For U Protein with a mix of soy and pea, the calculated emissions (including transport of raw materials and processing) are at 3.35kg CO2 per kg of protein powder, compared to the CO2 emissions for 1kg of whey protein at 12kg CO2 per kg of protein powder. This indicates a saving of about 70% carbon dioxide per kilo of protein powder, which is one reason why our protein powder became plant-based, without compromising on quality and amino acid profile.
