Umara's Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 25, 2024

The easy-to-read (awesome) version
You're awesome, and we respect that, even encourage it. Naturally, we need to know where you live and your name if you buy things from us, otherwise, we can't send the goods to you. We also expect you to pay for the items, which means you'll need to provide your details and payment information to Svea (who is not a random person but our payment provider).

We prefer not to store your information unnecessarily, as it just takes up space. However, we will store certain information about your purchases to enable specific features on the website, such as reviews, purchase history, etc. The tax authorities would probably also be upset with us if we didn't save our accounting records - we're simply following the law.

Our business idea is to provide an awesome range of sports nutrition and related products. We will not try to make money by selling your information to some evil company for misuse. However, your information will be sent to other companies that we use ourselves, to be able to deliver the goods or to inform you about some new exciting product we launch.

Although cookies are very tasty to eat, those aren't the cookies we save on your computer. Some cookies must be saved for the site to work, e.g., the shopping cart and pure security mechanisms. You can find all the delicious details at the end of this page.

If, for some unfathomable reason, you want to quarrel with us (dispute), we prefer to solve it ourselves; if that doesn't work, Swedish law applies.

If you're wondering about something, want to correct some information, or think we should become senile and forget about you, contact us at [email protected], and we'll sort it out a'la Umara Style.

The long version with all the delicious details

Umara AB (Org. No. 556931-0252, hereinafter referred to as "Umara" or "we") always strives to process your ("you", "your") personal data in a way that makes you feel awesome.

This privacy policy describes how and why we as a data controller collect and process your personal data and what we do to protect them.

What are personal data?
Personal data is any kind of data that can directly or indirectly be used to identify a living physical person. Electronic identities and IP addresses are also considered personal data if they can be traced back to an individual.

Personal data you provide to us, and what we do with them

When placing an order

To be able to complete a purchase in our e-commerce, we collect personal data from you, such as your first and last name, address, city, postal code, email address, and phone number.

We need this information to be able to complete a sale and deliver the products to you. The data is also stored in our financial system and for potential communication with authorities as required by law. If there are questions about an order, we will use your information to contact you regarding this.

When ordering, you will receive an order confirmation containing information about the products you have purchased. You cannot unsubscribe from this email as it contains information about your order.

After placing an order, you may receive an email asking you to rate your shopping experience with us and/or review the products you have purchased. This may be sent out either through our own systems or another service we use for this purpose.

The company we use to provide a payment solution (Svea Ekonomi) acts as its own data controller and collects your information to process your order and make risk assessments. You can read about which personal data they collect and why in Svea's privacy policy.

When contacting us

We use Google Workspace, including Gmail, for email management. When you send an email to us, your data is processed and stored through Gmail, with settings configured for data storage exclusively within Europe, in accordance with GDPR. This ensures that your data is protected according to European standards.

Please note that although we and Google apply high security measures, sensitive information should be avoided in email correspondence.

We only store your email for as long as we need to manage the correspondence or your case.

Newsletter

We send out a newsletter about 2-4 times a month. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the newsletter or by logging into my pages. The personal data you provide for this is your email address, and if you sign up while logged into your account, your name will also be used.

For the newsletter, we use a service located in the USA, Aweber. The transfer is made under the Privacy Shield, which ensures an adequate level of protection for your data.

Which personal data we collect and for what purposes
When visiting our website, we store anonymous information about which browser you use and which pages are visited. We do this to improve our service.

Your IP address is logged on our web server (Sweden) to track, detect, and prevent intrusion, fraud attempts, and/or misuse of the service. These log files are deleted after 180 days.

Umara neither sells nor discloses your personal data to other companies without first obtaining your consent. Your personal data will, however, be processed by other companies on behalf of Umara, in cases where we use other services to complement our own systems.

We may disclose registry extracts to third parties, such as the Police or other authorities, if required by law.

Cookies

Our payment system is provided by Svea (Svea Ekonomi, Evenemangsgatan 31, 169 81 Solna, Sweden) and uses cookies to offer you a more tailored experience in the checkout.

If we use other cookies, we will ask for your permission for this. See the end of this page for a complete list and the opportunity to change your consent.

What we do to protect your data
We have ensured that the services we use, where your personal data is stored, maintain a high standard of security and that necessary agreements are in place that ensure your data is handled correctly.

We have automated processes that, after a certain period, delete or anonymize data that is no longer necessary for us to handle. To prevent data loss, we have both continuous and daily backup with regular checks of its functionality.

We ensure that only authorized personnel have access to the various registries we use where your personal data is stored.

Your rights

You have the right to obtain a free copy of the information about you stored with us once a year. For additional requests for multiple copies within a year, we have the right to charge a reasonable fee due to the administrative work involved.

Under certain circumstances, you have the right to request deletion ("to be forgotten").

You always have the right to request the correction of incorrect data. Some of this you can do yourself by logging into "My Pages"; for other cases, contact us via email and describe your case.

You always have the right to withdraw a consent you have initially given us or to object to automated decision-making based on your data.

You can read more about this in detail on the Swedish Data Protection Authority's website.

Data processors
Umara uses, or may use, one or more data processors.

A data processor is a third party to whom your data is transferred, or stored on behalf of Umara for a specific purpose.

Examples of this could be a logistics partner to deliver your goods, accounting systems, or other services we use to deliver our service to you. We ensure that agreements are in place between us and them, ensuring that your data is handled correctly.

Dispute resolution
Any dispute between the customer and Umara will be attempted to be resolved between the parties in the first instance, and if no satisfactory solution is found, the dispute will be settled in accordance with Swedish legislation.
