4.4/5based on 155 reviewsU Loader features Palatinose as its only carbohydrate source. Palatinose is the brand name for the sugar isomaltulose. With a low glycemic index (GI32), it's not ideal for a sports drink when fast energy is needed, but it's perfect for carb-loading.
We selected Palatinose primarily because it’s the first and presently the only sugar awarded the "Happy Tooth" certification from Tooth Friendly International, indicating it doesn't harm our teeth. Palatinose isn't an effective quick carbohydrate source for sports drinks, as it’s absorbed 4-5 times slower than the carbohydrates in sports drinks and gels. Thus, energy is steadily released to our muscles, which isn’t ideal during training and competitions. However, in a carb-loading phase of 2-3 days before a competition, absorption speed doesn’t really matter. Whether carbohydrates turn into glycogen in our muscles in 10 minutes or 40-50 minutes makes no difference at all. And with Palatinose being tooth-friendly, we've chosen it for our U Loader.
