As we mentioned in the previous news, Umara is now available for purchase in Norway via holdut.no. Today, we can announce that we are also starting a collaboration with Norway's best marathon runner, Marthe Katrine Myhre!
It's super exciting to work more with Norwegian athletes. Marthe is a former elite skier, at the highest level, who has changed her focus and is now pursuing running. We asked Marthe to answer a few very tough questions to get to know her a bit better ;)
Hello Marthe, welcome to Team Umara! For our Swedish readers, can you tell us who you are and your sports background?
"I am a sports girl from Norway. I live in Gjøvik not far from Lillehammer where the Winter Olympics took place in 1994. I have always been involved in sports. As a child, I mainly participated in track and field, cross-country skiing, and football. But over time, the focus shifted more and more to skiing. Over the years, I achieved a number of good results and starts in the World Cup for Norway. Besides skiing, I have always run a lot, and in recent years, running has become my main focus. I have 12 NM medals (Norwegian championships) and have competed in both the European and World Championships. Now I am fully focused on the World Championships in 2023 and the Olympics in 2024 at the marathon distance. My partner works at Olympiatoppen and also waxes for the Norwegian national team, so we are a really sports-enthusiastic family ;).
How has your base training gone this winter, and what are you aiming for in 2023?
"So far, the training has been going very well. I have incorporated both good quality and quantity. It feels like the continuity in both intervals and distance is solid. I have been doing a bit more threshold and strength training than in previous years. The form is good, and I am on track for the spring and qualification for the World Championships."

Some quick questions:
Favorite interval workout?
"It has to be: 3x1000 meters, 3x2000 meters, and 3x3000 meters. 1 minute rest in between."
Favorite food?
"Homemade pizza."
A result you are most proud of?
"It has to be 3rd place in the Sevilla marathon."
PB for 10, 21, and 42km?
10 km: 33:52
Half marathon: 1:13:08
Marathon: 2:34:43
How do you work with sports nutrition in your elite aspirations?
"Nutrition is super important and the A and O when it comes to handling two workouts a day as well as a high weekly volume. I consume some form of energy during all my sessions. This way, I get the most out of each session and optimize recovery. This is also an area I want to develop further. It’s the small margins that make the difference at the top, and it's important to optimize all aspects to put together a good performance. Therefore, I am very proud and happy to have you at Umara as a partner.
Enough energy = better results.
Thank you Marthe, and a warm welcome!
