Umaras' popular energy gel, U-Gel, is now launching in a new flavor – Menthol – to give you an extra kick during your training or competition. This new flavor combines the classic energy gel and its properties with a cooling and refreshing menthol taste, providing a cooling effect when you need it most. It's perfect for long runs or intense, sweaty indoor sessions where you want to keep your energy levels up.

Menthol might not be the flavor you'll consume three gels per hour of, but imagine you've been taking Mango gels for five hours and are getting tired of sweet flavors. Then, out of your pocket comes a menthol gel – the perfect taste breaker, giving you a fresh sensation in your mouth! Additionally, menthol has positive effects by reducing perceived exertion, and multiple studies have shown performance improvements of around 6% in time-to-exhaustion tests lasting up to 70 minutes in hot climates of around 30°C. It’s the same kind of relief you might crave when you're 40 minutes into a tempo session in your basement, and it feels like it's at least 30 degrees in the room.

  • Menthol, naturally found in plants like peppermint and spearmint, activates thermoreceptors in the mouth, creating a cooling sensation. This effect can enhance athletic performance in warm conditions by reducing perceived effort and increasing comfort during activity. Studies have shown that rinsing the mouth with a 0.1% menthol solution can extend time to exhaustion by approximately 6% when exercising in temperatures of 30-35°C. However, it's important to note that menthol only creates a cooling sensation and does not actually lower body temperature, so caution should be taken to avoid overheating.
